My name is Ashley Kelton and I attended Harding’s undergraduate speech therapy program. Following graduation from HU, I went on the the University of Mississippi for my Master’s. At the end of my graduate school experience I was able to go to Zambia with Harding’s HIZ PATH program. Both my studies as an undergraduate and my experiences with HIZ PATH prepared me to use my skills to bless others. I love HU’s emphasis on well rounded care. The professors within the University truly showed me how to approach therapy as treatment to improve a patient’s lifestyle rather than simply their time within the four walls of a therapy room. Harding also provided me with the opportunity to receive certification in LSVT as well, which has set me apart as a therapist.
Since graduating with my Master’s, I have been working as an SLP at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, in the outpatient setting full time. Additionally, I PRN at Baptist Memorial Hospital, inpatient. At Le Bonheur, I perform outpatient Modified Barium Swallow studies and treat pediatric feeding/swallowing, voice, language, and articulation. Even though I did not attend Harding for graduate school, I still feel comfortable emailing the CSD professors with questions and they readily respond. I believe that Harding provides excellent undergraduate and graduate programs for any prospective students.
