Alumni Update from Meredith Caldwell who is a graduate from 2016:
“My name is Meredith Caldwell (previously Hyde) and I did my undergraduate studies at Harding, class of 2016. I went to the University of Texas at Dallas to complete my graduate degree and moved back home to Magnolia, TX after that. My ambition was to work in a hospital setting, in acute care. However, God had different plans for me. It was very difficult to find a CF position in that setting, especially because I didn’t want to move from my hometown. So I did something I told myself I would never ever do: I went into the schools. I fought it for so long but decided that my CF was more important to complete, even if it wasn’t my dream job. And you know what? I really liked it! I went to a middle school and worked with 5th and 6th graders, which was a really fun group to work with, a little sassy, but they still know how to have a good time. Now that I’ve been there for 2 years, I decided I wanted to try something different. So I have combined my love of the medical aspects of what we do with my experience with kids and am transitioning to home health for medically fragile kids, and it’s amazing! I love being able to go into these children’s homes and work not just with them but with the families too. It’s the most functional way I can think of to support children’s communication, teaching the families to do what they can all the hours of the day that I’m not there.
It wasn’t what I had in mind at all when I started Harding in 2012, but I am right where I want and need to be. God moves in mysterious ways, and I’m so very glad he does!”
