Performing outside the box

For a senior biology major and lead in the department of theatre’s upcoming production of “James and the Giant Peach,” pursuing the arts and sciences simultaneously has been a way to find her place in the Harding community.

Kasey Kraft from Orlando, Florida, and has spent the past several months in nightly rehearsals preparing for her role as James in the spring production. Balancing a biology course load and a lead role, Kraft woke up early in the mornings to do homework and stayed up late at night for rehearsals.

“Even though I’m not a theatre major, I am actually a theatre minor. I have a lot of different interests and passions, and I didn’t know which to choose, so I kind of just chose both,” Kraft said. “What I would say to people is don’t be afraid to do more than one thing. You don’t have to stick yourself in one box and only do one thing.”
