March 30, 2017 — The Columbia Scholastic Press Association recognized Harding Academy’s yearbook, “The Wildcat” as a Scholastic Silver Crown winner at the 93rd annual Scholastic Convention on March 17 in New York.
“Our yearbook staff worked with great passion and intensity and did a marvelous job,” said Superintendent James Simmons. “I am so pleased they are seeing their efforts receive great commendation.”
From a national pool of 1,100 entries, the grand total of 250 Crowns included five digital magazines, 17 digital news, 15 hybrid magazines, 56 hybrid news, four hybrid yearbooks, 61 magazines, 24 print newspapers, and 68 yearbooks.
The Crown Awards are considered at Columbia University by panels of invited judges, working in small groups to review each publication. During Crown consideration, publications are judged on their excellence as shown by their design, photography, concept, coverage and writing.
